Palin!

Wow.

Wow.

I am not voting for McCain. I am voting for McCain-PALIN. I was o.k. with McCain . . . but now I am excited for the first time since he won the nomination. I viewed her (with Jindal) as an excitement pick . . . too good to be true.

If you are pro-life, as I am, this is one of the happiest days you have had politically. Palin has governed well and she lives her values. She chose life for own precious baby, born with Down Syndrome. Like McCain she has a son in the military.

McCain wants to win. He wants Clinton voters. He has confidence in his own experience.

Palin was always on my short list (with Jindal) of game changing outsiders. I didn’t think the Grand Old Man would go that way, but he did. She was such a good pick that I could not believe that McCain would do it. As I wrote last week, Jindal and Palin are the future of the party.

The future is today!

The upside: she is very conservative, she is an excellent executive, she is whip smart, she is telegenic, her life story is great.

The downside:she has little big media experience, she is younger than Obama, she has a “Fargo” accent that will invite media parody.

I think the downsides this year are outweighed by the upside . . . if she can take the media heat. Her best hope on that front is if the media does go after her “down home” style of speaking and so delivers a chunk of the Mid-West to McCain.
