Academics are a Family and Our Family is Hurting

College professors share a love of ideas, a love of learning, and a love for the peaceful community that is a college or university.

College is about youth, life, and new starts. Today pain, death, and endings came to a college campus.

We cannot grasp it, understand it, even speak about it in a way that measures the horror of such an event. It is too close.

This assault is an attack on the very nature of higher education . . . and on the family of scholars and students all over the world. Of course, it is mostly an assault on individual human beings created in His image, each of inestimable worth, and loved by friends and family.

Biola and Virginia Tech are on two different academic continents, but they are part of the same world that is united in a quest for knowledge and in service to students. It is unfathomable to think of the loss of bright students and valued colleagues to such evil.

God help the family of Virginia Tech, touch the families feeling loss, and may the Lord Christ heal those students still suffering.

Our prayers and hopes are with this campus.

We pray for the families and the school.
