Is Hugh Hewitt the only one not losing his head?
The best way to clean up Washington is to send better people there. The Democrats are, for the most part, not the best choice. There are good people running all over the country. . . and I want to point to one of them.
The old media thinks the best way to clean up the mess in Washington is to make Ted Kennedy 
a senior member of the majority party. The major media believes the way to cleanse Congress is to put the party of Gerry Studds and Barney Frank in power.
They believe their day of glory is coming, but it isn’t and there are three major reasons why.
First, America is at war. It is easy to tell a pollster you are mad, but harder to pull the lever for the folk who want to lose the war. People will vote to win the war.
Second, conservatives were tempted to make the perfect the enemy of the better-than-the-other-guys, but now have the image of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi before them at every hour of the day. Conservatives don’t expect utopia in this earth (unlike the left) and so will accept “o.k.” over horrific.
Third, the Democrats, as usual, are over playing their hand and making conservatives fearful and mad. They will vote. As one conservative friend of mine put it today, “I was not too interested in this race, but now I am fired up.”
My favorite way to irritate the major media is to back candidates they are not watching . . . in order to let that candidate play David to the complacent Goliath.
New Mexico is a “purple state” that can elect Republicans. The sitting Senator is, how shall we say this charitably, a bit dim. He managed to be the only border state Senator to vote against sane controls on immigration. His Massachusetts voting record is out of line with his state which went to Bush.
New Mexico votes have a choice and just a little money in this low-population state can make a difference . . . if only to create a strong statewide candidate for the next round. Allen McCulloch is very bright, a medical doctor, shares our traditional values and will back the President in the War on Terror.
If you are worried about the mess in Washington, then help send this good doctor with a history of caring for the people of New Mexico to Washington. Let’s put a good scare into the Democrat party by making them play defense in New Mexico.
